Symmetry of Stairs

There is a lot of symmetry in the stairs of the State of Virginia Capitol building in Richmond adding character and class of Palladian architecture. Palladian architecture is a European architectural style derived from the work of the Venetian architect Andrea Palladio. What is today recognized as Palladian architecture evolved from his concepts of symmetry, perspective and the principles of formal classical architecture from ancient Greek and Roman traditions.

Stairs

Similar to Reptiles one, our Catawba Valley Camera Club is having a competition on “Stairs.” Since I can’t submit images for this competition, I have searched in my library of photos and will be posting related images.

Here is an image of stairs of a lighthouse in Outer Banks, North Carolina taking the photo of symmetrical stairs from the top looking down. The ordered layout the bricks adds to the image.

Somesville Arched Wooden Footbridge

The Somesville Bridge, one of the most photographed bridges in Maine, is located within the charming Village of Somesville on Mount Desert Island. The Somesville Bridge with its graceful arch transgressing the waters of Somes Creek frames nature’s perfection, marking the seasons on many a calendar. The symmetrical reflection of the bridge on the creek add to the image.
