Black and White Buildings in Chester
Chester, England is famous for its black and white buildings including the Rows, medieval two-tier buildings above street level with covered walkways which today house many of Chester’s shopping galleries. The Black-and-White Revival was an architectural movement in the mid-19th century that re-used the vernacular elements of the past, such as painted black timber framing with panels in between painted white, referring to Tudor style.


Reflections – on Glass Buildings
Glass provides a wonderful mirror to create unusual reflections. The first image is of reflections on glass from the sun shining on another building. The second image depicts reflections of architectural marvels of the Getty Museum in Los Angeles.


Old Architecture Homes in Savannah
More than 40 percent of the buildings and homes found in Savannah, Georgia have architectural or historical significance. The restoration of these structures is often undertaken by passionate individuals in strict accordance with the rules and regulations put forth by the Savannah Historic Foundation. Restoration of historic buildings has thrived here especially since the addition of the Savannah College of Art and Design in the late 1970s.

Savannah City Hall
Opened on January 2, 1906, City Hall is the first building constructed by the citizens of Savannah expressly and exclusively to serve as the seat of municipal government. A spectacular architectural masterpiece, City Hall features a domed roof that rises 70 feet into the air. It was originally made in copper but was gilded in 1987 with sheets of 23-karat gold leaf.

Jefferson Hotel Opulence
Inside the Jefferson Hotel (Richmond, Virginia), there is a creative (i.e., assortment and range of architectural styles) approach. Every room is awash in light from stained glass windows and surfaces are cloaked in deep colors. The hotel’s two-tiered, 36-step grand staircase is said to have inspired the staircase sequence in the film Gone With The Wind.
