Wilmington Trinity Episcopal Church

Trinity Episcopal Church, Wilmington, Delaware was built in the 1880s. It is a traditional English Gothic structure that features beautiful stained glass windows. The exterior walls are made of rough, dressed Avondale stone, and the church has a high, steeped roof. The church’s tower and spire were added in 1925. Twelve bronze bells in the tower chime the hour.

Charlotte – A Theater from a Church

The pride of Spirit Square is the 730-seat McGlohon Theater, named in honor of the late legendary jazz pianist Loonis McGlohon of Charlotte. With beautiful stained glass windows and a cupola, this space served as the First Baptist Church sanctuary for many years. The theater has been carefully restored to preserve and enhance its unique architectural details.

Jefferson Hotel Opulence

Inside the Jefferson Hotel (Richmond, Virginia), there is a creative (i.e., assortment and range of architectural styles) approach. Every room is awash in light from stained glass windows and surfaces are cloaked in deep colors. The hotel’s two-tiered, 36-step grand staircase is said to have inspired the staircase sequence in the film Gone With The Wind.
