An Overview of the Kentucky River
A 70 ft overlook of the Kentucky River provides a view of the scenic Kentucky River Palisades. The Kentucky River Palisades are a series of steep, scenic gorges and limestone outcroppings that stretch for approximately 100 mi along the Kentucky River in central Kentucky.

Claiborne Farm
Claiborne Farm is a thoroughbred horse breeding operation near Paris, Kentucky. It was established in 1910 by Arthur B. Hancock, owner of Ellerslie Stud in Albemarle County, Virginia, and has been operated by his family members ever since.
We will post images from a tour there and were surprised to see statues of jockeys instead of horses there.

Flight 5191 Memorial
The University of Kentucky Arboretum is home to a sculpture commemorating the Comair Flight 5191 crash victims. A 17-foot tall sculpture of 49 stylized silver bird figures sweeps heavenward in a rush of energy and movement: the number of birds corresponds to the 49 souls lost in the Flight 5191 tragedy.

Cultivated in Britain and part of the popular and profusely blooming Swan Series, Anemone x ‘Dainty Swan’ produces large, two-toned blossoms of white tinged with purple-pink on the reverse side and golden yellow centers, which appear in June and continue into October. The Kentucky state flower is the Goldenrod. The tall and spindly plant thrives in many conditions and soil types. The flower has green and prominent yellow foliage that actively blossoms in the summer. Here is an image of the flowers at the Arboretum.

On the clubhouse level of Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky, there is a stunning glass replica of the racetrack created by Craig Colquhoun. Using heat, metal, and glass, this master artist skillfully and successfully constructed 4,000 detailed glass pieces to fit inside the 30-foot racetrack sculpture.
