Chester, England is famous for its black and white buildings including the Rows, medieval two-tier buildings above street level with covered walkways which today house many of Chester’s shopping galleries. The Black-and-White Revival was an architectural movement in the mid-19th century that re-used the vernacular elements of the past, such as painted black timber framing with panels in between painted white, referring to Tudor style.
Eastgate Street is a historical shopping street with many of Chester’s distinctive buildings related to the Tudor revival in England.
Henshelwoods Delicatessen established in1998 in an old building is a corner of foodie heaven in the heart of historic York, nestled at the side of The Shambles Market.
The national theater in San Jose is one of the most beautiful buildings in Costa Rica with great importance to the cultural and historical aspect of the country. It opened in 1897, representing Costa Rica’s high degree of fine art and is a grand display of neo-classical architecture.
The main attractions of Pacific Heights, San Francisco, are the stunning mansions and historic buildings. Pacific Heights was first developed as a neighborhood in the 1870s with a series of small Victorian homes. Many of these were lost during the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and were later replaced with period homes. Even today, the neighborhood is characterized by its wealth of Victorian-style architecture.
