Water Flows from Two Falls

There are actually two waterfalls here, near Brevard, each on a separate creek. At the overlook, stand at the top of Connestee Falls on Carson Creek. Across the gorge, Batson Creek Falls cascades down to meet Connestee. The now-joined creeks squeeze through a cleft known as Silver Slip, but can’t see it from the upper overlook. Can see Batson Creek Falls pretty well from the overlook, but not Connestee.

Hooker Falls

Hooker Falls stands only 12 feet high, its wide drop into a pool creates a beautiful setting and an excellent spot for splashing around on hot summer days.

Hooker Falls has been known to residents for years and was named for Edmund Hooker, who operated a mill below the falls in the late 1800s. The Falls were featured in the movie The Last of the Mohicans, where characters in canoes fall over the water.

The Owl of Minerva – by Jamie Green

An interesting wooden sculpture, The Owl of Minerva, by Jamie Green, at the Annual Sculpture Celebration in Lenoir, North Carolina. There is a striking background of a red bridge, a reflection, and a waterfall at the Broyhill Walking Park.

Exploring the Falls

Hickory Nut Falls trail’s main destination is to the base of the waterfalls. It is relatively safe to rock-hop and explore the stream right at the base of the falls since it is flat there, but it is generally frowned upon. Adventurers cross the base and even use it as a photo shoot!

Silky Water Flow

Hickory Nut Falls in Chimney Rock State Park, North Carolina is a rather light-flowing and feathery falls flowing through granite rocks. It’s hard to say whether this is a seasonal waterfall or just a light-flowing one that happens to be year-round.

Fortuna River Waterfall

The Fortuna River waterfall in Costa Rica is located in a biological reserve with an area of 210 acres of transition premontane tropical wet forest, part of the Arenal Volcano National Park and is located at 520 meters over the sea level, where there are sources of our mountains and the waters of the Fortuna River. To observe this splendid 70 meters high waterfall, visitors must pass a path of approximately 530 steps, which offers greater security to its passage and comfortable areas for rest and hydration through a forest with native trees of the area.

La Fortuna Waterfall

La Fortuna Waterfall is in central Costa Rica. In Spanish, it is known as Catarata Fortuna. The waterfall drops about 70−75 meters and is at the base of the dormant Chato volcano, near the Arenal. The waterfall is one of the must-see attractions in the La Fortuna area and the waterfall hike, about 500 steps down and then back up, is well worth the effort. Attractive rest stops along the steps allow for necessary respite.
