Walking Bridge to the Pier
Santa Monica State Beach on the north side of the pier is separated from the city by the palisades (an ocean bluff) and the Pacific Coast Highway. A series of bridges, walkways and stairs provide access to the beach. One doesn’t have to face heavy traffic on Pacific Coast Hwy. 1, but can cross over from Ocean Blvd. to the Santa Monica Pier and beaches via a walking bridge.

Sydney Harbor Bridge
The Sydney Harbor Bridge is an Australian heritage-listed steel through arch bridge across Sydney Harbor that carries rail, vehicular, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic between the Sydney central business district and the North Shore. Traffic on Thames
The Thames has supported London’s trade, tourism and traffic for centuries. But as the capital’s population reaches new records, the river is the latest piece of infrastructure to begin to feel the strain.
HMS Belfast (on the right below) is a Town-class light cruiser that was built for the Royal Navy. She is now permanently moored as a museum ship on the River Thames in London and is operated by the Imperial War Museum.
Looking at Golden Gate Bridge
More than 10 years in planning due to formidable opposition, but only four years in actual construction, the Golden Gate Bridge brought the communities of San Francisco and Marin counties closer together.
