Lake Lure from Chimney Rock
From approximately 4,000 feet above sea level, the views from Chimney Rock are spectacular. Even on a cloudy day, Lake Lure appears grand. One of the most beautiful man-made lakes in the country, Lake Lure is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Located about 27 miles from Asheville, Lake Lure sits in the Hickory Nut Gorge, surrounded by lush mountain tops and sheer granite cliffs.

Jawai Bandh was constructed in Rajasthan across the Jawai River, a tributary of the Luni River. Jawai got importance in 1946, when Umaid Singh started building a dam there. Prior to that, it was just an area with some granite hills and a river, uninteresting to tourists or the government. Now, it is a beautiful landscape.
Lake Jowai
Close to Bera, lie the river Jawai and the Jawai dam. The result of these two structures is a lake-like water body. A scenic place amidst the hills is home to some of the biggest crocodiles apart from a number of resident and migratory birds.
Lake Arenal Costa Rica
Lake Arenal sits at the base of the Arenal Volcano in the northern highlands of Costa Rica. It is the country’s largest landlocked body of water, with a surface that covers nearly 33 square miles (85 square km) and a depth that reaches some 200 feet (60 m).
In 1979, Lake Arenal was enlarged to three times its original size with the construction of a hydroelectric dam. Nowadays, Lake Arenal’s dam is hugely important to the country, as it produces nearly 12% of Costa Rica’s electric energy.
Jackson Lake at the Tetons
Jackson Lake is in Grand Teton National Park in northwestern Wyoming. This natural lake was enlarged by the construction of the Jackson Lake Dam, which was originally built in 1911, enlarged in 1916 and rebuilt by 1989.
