Silhouette photography is all about getting your lighting right. A silhouette effect is created when a light source is placed behind your subject, with little to no light in front of your subject. Here the bird and tree are silhouetted against a serene sky.
In photography, a silhouette is defined as an outline that appears dark against a light background. More specifically, it is where your subject is seen as a black shape without detail against a brighter background.
Will be posting this week images with silhouettes. Here is a church silhouette against a vivid sunset sky.
Cloudscape photography is photography of clouds or sky. The sky is the single most abstract and dynamic canvas that a photographer has at his disposal. It is an endless source of inspiration that can change a boring photo into one of tremendous interest. Clouds can really either dominate an image or they can enhance the background.
Will be posting this week images of clouds as the dominant feature. Here is one with striking cloud formations in the blue sky.
