The Terrace Gardens are the historic heart of Duke Gardens. Topped by a wisteria-covered pergola, the Terrace beds are filled each season with marvelous combinations of bulbs, annuals, perennials, ornamental grasses, trees, and shrubs. Container plantings complement the landscape designs.

The blueness of the Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina is accentuated by the striking formation of the clouds.
The Blue Ridge Mountains are noted for having a bluish color when seen from a distance. Trees put the “blue” in Blue Ridge, from the isoprene released into the atmosphere, thereby contributing to the characteristic haze on the mountains and their distinctive color.
