Downtown Charlotte or Uptown (as it is usually called by locals) is home to a number of contemporary high-rise buildings and modern towers, as well as historic structures and old buildings.

Charlotte in the Middle
Charlotte is a major city and commercial hub in North Carolina. Its modern city center (Uptown) has tall buildings with eye-pleasing architecture.
King George III still ruled the Colonies when European settlers chartered the town back in 1768. They named the new hamlet after the King’s wife, Queen Charlotte.
