Mattupetty Dam is a concrete gravity dam, constructed between 1949 and 1953 for the purpose of conservation of water and hydroelectricity generation. Featuring a catchment area of 105 sq km, this dam is a vital source of electricity and yields substantial revenue for the state of Kerala.
