an interesting name—does this park bench really face west?
It actually faces south. The beach, which was originally named “Bald Beach,” was renamed by Mannon Gore after he spent some time on the barrier island and took note of the brilliant sunsets, leading to the name “Sunset Beach.” It is also the name of the town.
