Bera, nested in the Aravalli mountain ranges of India, forms a beautiful and serene backdrop to the world’s most outstanding opportunities for leopard photography. Amongst spellbinding, billion-year-old granite rock formations, leopards roam wild and free, coexisting comfortably with the charismatic communities around Bera, Rajasthan, India. It is home to a vibrant population of approximately fifty leopards. It is a relatively small area blessed with an exceptional density of the iconic cats that live on a rocky terrain that was seemingly designed for photographers (with very long lenses).

The Tetons are one of the youngest mountain ranges in North America. They have been uplifting for less than 10 million years, making them “adolescent” mountains, as compared to the “middle-aged” Rockies (50-80 million years old) or the “elderly” Appalachians (more than 300 million years old).
Most of the lakes in the park were formed by glaciers and the largest of these lakes are located at the base of the Teton Range
Hiking Up Roan Mountain Bald
Located on the North Carolina/Tennessee state line, Roan Mountain is actually more of a mountain range about 5 miles long – called a massif – than it is a single peak. Famous for its Catawba Rhododendron gardens with its brilliant purple flowers in spring. Grassy Ridge, along the eastern flank of Roan Mountain, is the longest stretch of grassy bald in the Appalachian Mountains. These treeless mountaintops offer spectacular views, fields of grass waving in the winds, and an alpine-like hiking experience. Will post images from this vista over the next few days.
