Full Wolf Moon – January amid the cold and deep snows of midwinter, the wolf packs howled hungrily outside Indian villages. Thus, the name for January’s full Moon. Sometimes it was also referred to as the Old Moon, or the Moon After Yule. Some called it the Full Snow Moon, but most tribes applied that name to the next full Moon.
This shot was taken in January 2014 in Santa Clarita, California.
I captured a shot of that same moon, rising over the Norwegian mountains as the sun was setting behind me, but I didn’t know it was called a Wolf Moon, or know the story behind that. Fascinating!
Your photo captures the expanse of the heavens and landscape as the moon seemingly hangs in the sky. Beautiful!
I linked to you in my post today. I hope you get several new followers to see your beautiful images!
I appreciate that Cindi
Thanks Cindy. Your shot is beautiful and you now know the story …
