More than 10 years in planning due to formidable opposition, but only four years in actual construction, the Golden Gate Bridge brought the communities of San Francisco and Marin counties closer together.
Here is a view of the bridge with traffic leaving San Francisco towards Marin County …..
nice shot!
Thanks Ellen!
Great shot!
A few in Marin may still be angry. Marin has fought BART from coming there. I have to take the Golden Gate Transit bus to get to San Francisco. We finally have the Sonoma Marin Area Rapid Transit (SMART) train but it only goes from Santa Rosa to San Rafael. If you time it right you can catch the shuttle bus to the Larkspur Ferry Port and then take the ferry into San Francisco. Otherwise you catch a Golden Gate Transit bus. I’m glad the GGT bus is there. It would be a long walk and the parking in San Francisco is too expensive.
Thanks Tim! Sorry to hear about the transportation issues.
It’s okay but a bit frustrating when there is such excellent public transit in all the other countries around the SF Bay Area. Thanks for allowing me to rant.
No problem Tim!
